Our Story

Here at Bishop Hill Old Settlers' Association, we’re committed to investing preservation efforts for a key building within the village of Bishop Hill - the Colony School.

Our group purchased the 1861 schoolhouse in 1953 and have restored it to its present state.  The schoolhouse (equipped with a kitchen) and grounds are maintained by our group and are available to rent for meetings, parties, and special occasions like weddings.

Our annual events provide not only family fun, but profits to help with ongoing maintenance of the schoolhouse.
